I'm suddenly missing multiple Excel files on my account

Device
PC Desktop
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
Windows 10
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
online and on my hard drive

Question or Issue
I cannot find at least two spreadsheets I use regularly.  I have no "Deleted Files" option on the left menu bar, a search reveals nothing, and going through the events page I can find the last time I edited one of them on 9/9/2025 and when I click on it, it downloads a 0 Byte file that I cannot open.  There is no event after that edit event, so I don't think it was deleted.  Yet it is deleted, apparently.  What happened?

Hi Sash S., thanks for messaging the Community.

When you edited the Excel files, were you making the changes via the Dropbox site, or by using Excel on your computer?

Did you open the files directly from the Dropbox folder on your machine, or did you open Excel first and then open the files from there?

Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!
