Lost ownership of folder
Hi:
I have several folders in my dropbox (I'm the owner of some and can edit others). Now I (accidentally) moved a folder for which I am the owner into a folder for which I only have edit privileges. When I moved the folder back to its original place, I discovered that I am no longer the owner (I can still edit the folder, but the owner is not the owner of the folder into which I accidentally moved the folder).
Any advice on how to make me the owner again?
Thanks!
Steve

Have the new owner transfer ownership back to you.

Hi! I am experiencing the same problem and it took me by quite surprise. I'm a teacher and created this folder in 2020 and have been using it since then to share notes with my learners. Today I went on to change the shared membership, as most of my learners I shared it with are done with school and are not using it anymore. Somehow (don't know if I did something wrong by accident) I'm now only able to edit this folder and someone else is now the owner. I have emailed this person with the hope that they will change the ownership. But what if that does not happen? Is there by any chance a history available that you can check that I am in fact the original owner (and should be the only one) and maybe identify how this change in ownership happened so that it does not happen again?

You would need to create a new folder, move or copy the content from the old folder to the new folder, then re-share it with the intended recipients. There's no way for Dropbox to revert the ownership back to you.
