In the first question of my Shortcut (Name the folder) you can enter the entire path.
E.g. Horseriding/Summer 2018/Chatanooga
It doesnât matter if it exists or not. In case it doesnât exist, Shortcuts will create it, and will deploy your pictures in it.
Give it a try.

Well, from iPad is very easy to do it directly, from the app Photos, taking profit from âSide by Sideâ and âDrag and Dropâ features, both available since IOS 11. Just be sure you have Dropbox in your Dock.
I enclosed a video to show you a demo for situations in which the destination folder previously exists.

I have 2 suggestions for you to get visual folder access prior to deploy the photos (or files) there. Both of them display better in iPad than in iPhone, but still possible in both.
One is very simple, with just an easy variation on the Shortcut.
The other, requires additional software setup, and a little learning, but is free and results are perfect!
