Thank you, Nancy š.
Today , 18 January 2024, I can happily report that the transcription malfunction issue on Dropbox.com is 100% resolved. Ben from the Dropbox advanced support team let me know that on 17 January the engineering team implemented some more changes and that seems to have resolved everything perfectly.
Thank goodness, I canāt do without Dropbox hugely impressive transcription function anymore.
I am very pleased with Dropboxās customer support, here on the forum and via email. Also the engineering team was able to fix this serious issue in a matter of days. Thank you all!
With kind regards,Grover.

I am having this same issue. Any file I attempt, the transcription is only about 4 minutes.

Shararashka isn't it just so frustrating!š The first four minutes or so, it's exactly the same for me. I'm wondering if we have to upgrade to reinstate the full amount, although I haven't had a message to the effect. I'm hoping to get hold of someone from Dropbox today. I update you when I find out more.

JulieKerr and others, since a few days there seem to be serious issues with Dropboxā transcript function. I have instances where I needed to wait 15 min for the Transcript function to give the message āāThere was an error loading the transcriptā. For 15 min long, it seemed Dropbox was working on the transcript, but no output was given. The process ended in the above error message.
Since today something else happens and that is that transcripts are indeed broken off after 4 minutes. It has become unreliable the service.
Hopefully it will be fixed a.s.a.p. Fingers crossed! - Grover2 years agoHelpful | Level 6

Grover thanks for the link. I've read it and seems like it's a problem with Dropbox not the individual as others are having exactly the same problem. I'm now in touch with support via email and have shared the issue. When I have a reply, I'll get back to you. Fingers crossed.

Funny enough, I had been getting the "There was an error loading the transcript" message for a few days also. But now the error is that it only transcribes about 4 minutes of whatever file I try. Hmm. Frustrating.

Yeah, my first thought was ope! they want me to upgrade, but yeah, I couldn't find evidence that is what is going on. I look forward to hearing back if you learn more. Thank you!

Hey everyone, thanks for alerting us to this issue.
Our engineering team is aware of the issue and are currently working on a fix.
Once we have more info, we'll update you as well.

Thank you, Hannah .
I was informed today by email by support staff that the issue should be fixed now, but when I tried some audio files, the first ones were transcribed perfect, then one was missing the last minutes of the transcription and the last one I tried, was delivered a transcript that was cut off after 40 min (on an audio recording of 90 min).
I reported back via email that this serious issue is unfortunately still not solved.

Unfortunately, today I discovered that the Dropbox audio transcription functionality is still not reliable , despite the efforts of the engineering team. Although it is not so seriously malfunctioning as last week anymore, it still is too buggy.
There are small segments in many of my newly made (today) transcriptions that are not fully transcribed by Dropbox AI transcription service. I am missing parts of the text, so I again am forced to listen to the audio snippets and simply can not rely on Dropboxās transcription service to perform well.
My business is depended on complete transcriptions (because I need to share those text transcriptions with colleagues, who canāt listen back to the individual audio segments related to the transcription, because they donāt have a paid Dropbox subscription).Itās not a big problem if the transcription is not 100% accurate (in other words: when Dropbox understands a spoken word wrong) , but when many text sentences are simply missing , then thereās a big problem. It needs to be complete. Otherwise the transcription is not a proper representation of my audio files.
I am very frustrated that I can still not deliver the 12 transcriptions that I need to deliver to my colleague this week, because Dropbox is still not functioning as it should.
It is costing me lots of time, energy and frustration, also because all this is happing exactly at a point in time where I need to prepare workshops that are based on the contents of my audio recordings.Question: until Dropbox getās this fixed: can someone from the support team or enduser community, point me towards an alternative AI multi-language transcription service?
Thank you.

Hey Simon Heywood, the team is still working on this issue, however, can you try to re-upload any files that need transcribing with a different name, to see if that helps?

I could do that, and I guess it would work, but there's a *lot* of them and it would take a long time. If all else fails ...

This error appears to be happening again with all Dropbox video files I'm trying to have be transcribed (English). I'll either get a failure to load transcript error or an error that the transcription failed to generate.

Hey Colin Krueger, do you see the same error when trying from a different browser or a private browsing window as well?
- Colin Krueger2 years agoExplorer | Level 3Yup, unfortunately. I've tried: New browser, new window, incognito tab, different browser, clear cache.
