Will I lose files if I wipe my laptop?
So I have a dumb question to ask! I need to wipe/factory reset my laptop to sell it. I have Dropbox Basic on my laptop and on my desktop computer. If I wipe my laptop, will I lose files from Dropbox and/or on my desktop computer as well? I'm worried that everything is synced between the two computers and that I'll lose it all. Please can anyone help in dummy speak? Thanks in advance from a not-very-savvy user!
Hi Cola_13
As long as you have made sure everything is uploaded to Dropbox, no, you wont.
Check by putting your mouse over the Dropbox icon that its up to date and do a manual check at www.dropbox.com/home.

Hey Cola_13! Hope it’s OK to jump in.
Before wiping your laptop and after making sure all of your files are successfully uploaded on www.dropbox.com, I’d also suggest logging out/unlinking your Dropbox app.
This way, if you delete the local Dropbox folder, your online files won’t be affected.
