Solved

A shared folder was missing from my Dropbox folder, so I resynced it and it's still not there

I was given access to a shared folder yesterday.  I was able to access it on the Dropbox website and in Windows File Explorer.  Today it is gone from Explorer.  I logged in online and it is there, so I tried going to Dropbox on my task bar, preferences, sync, selective sync and checking the box next to this shared folder.  I let it do it's thing, rebooted my computer and? Nothing.  Still not there.  Has anyone else had this issue recently?

Note: Yesterday I did have an error in Dropbox itself saying "Dropbox is experience some issues.  Before opening online-only files and folders, right-click and choose Make Available Offline."  I'm not sure if this is relevant to my current issue or if it is something separate.

The issue wasn't resolved until an hour ago. I'm deleting and reinstalling again, I'll update you once I've finished.

My issue has been resolved!  Since the shared folder was shared to me during the dropbox issue, I asked my IT department to remove permissions, then add permissions back.  Now that there is no issue I can access the folder via dropbox website AND windows file explorer.

Hey Jackie3191, I’m really glad to hear that helped and everything’s in order now!

If anyone else is still having the same issue though, can you let me know, so that we can check this?

Hey PR W., sorry to hear about this.

Could you clarify your device's OS and the exact status and version of the desktop app installed as shown in your system tray/menu bar as well?

Is it 'up to date' or is it still syncing?

Also, have you taken a look at your selective sync settings through the app's preferences to see if this folder has been selectively un-synced from the machine you're on?

    Keep us posted, Cindy.

    Hi Walter,

Solved! I never knew about the "selective synch" option, but I have found it!

    Thank you for your help!
