Android Scanner Creating Pixelated PDFs
I have been using the scanner feature on my Android device to create PDF documents for quite a while. After a recent update, the scanner is creating distorted files with pixelation when I use the Black and White scan setting. I have viewed the documents on other devices in other apps and the problem is the file that the Dropbox scanner creates. I have tried other scanning apps on the device and the scans are fine. Has anyone else observed this problem? If so, is there a solution?

Hi AL08, welcome to our Community!
Would you be able to send me a screenshot of how your files look after you scan them? Also, which Dropbox version do you have installed on your mobile?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there.

Hi!
I have just encountered the same problem. It seems that the latest update has broken document scanning in my Android Dropbox application 😞
It is creating low-resolution pixelated scans in b/w to pdf. Pages look as if they were created straight from low-res preview pages which you use for reordering. Here is an example screenshot from PDF :

Hi sashk0, sorry to hear about this.
Could you please let us know your device's exact OS version and the version of the Dropbox mobile app installed there as well?
Have you tried clearing the app's cache since you first noticed this?

Hi!
Android version: 11 (RKQ1.200862.002) / MIUI 12.5.4
Dropbox app version: 304.2.4
I've just cleaned cache - it didn't solve anything.

In that case, could you completely uninstall the app and re-install it anew to see if that makes any difference?
Keep me posted sashk0
- 737NG4 years agoNew member | Level 2Same problem. Scans on Android device are pretty much unusable after the update. Regardless of type if scan all images come out blurry. Also why is there a timer that takes photos? Can we not do it ourselves just like every other scan app? Thanks

It didn't help.
Dropbnox has introduced that bug it in one of the updates and yet haven't fixed it. It persists!
delete/reinstall and clear cache doesn't help

- Drjohngtherapy3 years agoNew member | Level 2I am also having the exact same issue. Dropbox support prematurely closed my case on this, which wasn't helpful.
I am considering quitting my Dropbox subscription because I rely on the document scan feature heavily. I hope Dropbox can resolve this quickly. Right now I am using a Samsung tablet from 2017 to do scans and this still works but my LG velvet phone only takes very pixelated scans. I have cleared caches, reinstalled Dropbox, etc. Nothing has helped.
Quite frustrating. - Walter3 years ago
