Hello everyone,
Our engineer's have looked into this and have provided a solution that should assist. If you follow the steps below, this should ensure that your folders are restored to the default for your PC. If you have any other issues, feel free to create a new thread and we will follow up with you shortly.
1) Make sure the Dropbox desktop application is running (re-download if you have already deleted the application)
2) Click on the Dropbox icon in the system tray and then click your profile picture or initials
3) Select âPreferencesâ
4) Click on the âAccountâ tab, and then click in the window under the tab (just anywhere will do)
5) Hold down the âalt+Hâ keys
6) select the option to âreset OS foldersâ

5 years agoHey there jgroth, thanks for joining the discussion here and sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Can you please try reinstalling the desktop app on your computer and then follow these steps to disable the computer backup feature?

Hey kiblets, thanks for the nudge here.
Is your Dropbox application still installed on your computer and did you correctly disable computer backup, before trying to move the files back? - kiblets5 years agoExplorer | Level 3
Hi Hannah,
Thanks for reaching out. I had uninstalled the desktop application. During setup after re-installing, I selected "Desktop" folder, but then immediately encountered the following message:
"Move Desktop folder back to its default location, then try again."
Tried to reset to default location via the Properties dialog and got this message:
"Can't redirect into reparse point, please choose different target path."
Thanks in advance for your help.

I am wondering at this point whether I can pay for the ability to REWIND and have everything restored to how it was before I got into this tangled mess? Most importantly, I want to extricate Dropbox from my local computer.
Thanks very much for your help.
