Conflicted copies of files even when I'm the only one editing them

Has anyone else run into issues where Dropbox creates multiple “conflicted copy” versions of the same file — even when you’re the only one editing? I love Dropbox for sharing and backups, but the sync conflict problem has been a headache lately, especially with large folders or shared projects.

How are you all handling it? Do you use version history, third-party tools, or just manual cleanup? Would love to hear how others deal with this daily frustration.

Hi there jamze , and welcome to the Dropbox Community 👋

I just wanted to check in, is this issue with conflicted copies of files resolved yet? Please let us know how things are going when you have a moment.

By the way, I’m Theresa 👩‍💻, one of the Community Managers here at Dropbox HQ. Since you’ve been using Dropbox with file editing and sync workflows, I’d love to know… what’s your favourite Dropbox feature right now? Whether it’s something simple or more advanced, I’m always curious what people enjoy most.

    Looking forward to your update,

    T 😺 (Dropbox Community Manager)

Hey jamze - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

As a first step, have you made sure that you don't have the same file open on multiple devices?

Let us know more and we'll take it from there.
