Dropbox is downloading folders I chose not to sync

How do I stop dropbox from downloading every file known to man?! I've never had this much trouble!   I recently had to reinstall windows. I downloaded dropbox because it is convenient but I selec...

Hey smcllr, sorry to hear about this.

 

Did you deselect the folders in the selective sync preferences before syncing started or after?

 

If you did it after syncing had already started, this is expected, I'm afraid.

 

If syncing is still ongoing, both processes should be running now at the same time, so it might take some time, but the folders will be removed eventually.
