File request looks and acts differently

Device
Android

Question or Issue
Within the past 6 months, has Dropbox changed the way users upload files through file requests?  It seems way more difficult now.  The screen acts like we are on a computer.  I have to choose the option to upload from computer.  Then I have to find my camera.  Lastly, I have to actually keep the window open until all the files have downloaded.  I do not remember having to do that before.

I thought maybe I was in desktop view and that was the reason, but that did not make a difference.  I am feeling it will very cumbersome to ask someone to upload pictures just to turn around and tell them to do it again because they have to keep their window open.

  • You've always had to keep the window open - as without the window open there is no web link between the computer the files are on and Dropbox. That bit hasnt changed at all.

If, however, the person has a Dropbox account and chooses that as the option to upload on Requests then they can close it as it doesnt need the physical link to do so.

When on a request link if they choose the option 'Upload from Dropbox' it should work quicker as its going from one Dropbox account to another. It doesnt work like that if Dropbox is just on the desktop, because then it still needs to do the upload.

Okay.  I may have a cloudy memory then.  Thanks.  Are you saying that if the user has Dropbox, you can close the window and it will continue to upload?  I ask because I tried it on my phone and it did not upload.  It just sat there until I went back into it.  The button said retry.
