Files not syncing on desktop app

I have Dropbox as a shortcut on my laptop and also access it via the internet. However for a few weeks now, whenever I add something to one of our work spreadsheets, it is only saving in my local downloads.

I have uninstalled and re-installed it, but nothing seems to work. Its becoming a nightmare now as I have lots of information I need to add for other members of staff to have access to. Is anybody else experiencing the same thing? Does anyone know how I can sort this out?

Thanks in advance

Are you opening and editing the file from within your local Dropbox folder? If you're opening the file from your Downloads folder and your Downloads folder isn't located in your Dropbox folder, then Dropbox will never be able to sync the file. It can only sync files located in your local Dropbox folder.

So, where, exactly, is the file located on your computer and how are you opening it?
