I am just astonished that an application the sole purpose of which is to synchronize files between systems does not dependably synchronize files between systems! It's failing in its most basic task. What's worse -- the app thinks it has succeeded. But what's worst of all is that there is no way to force Dropbox to actually do the sync. Pause-restart syncing -- no. Stop-restart app -- no. Rename file on server -- no.*
How can the Dropbox developers ignore such a critical failure in their app? This has been an outstanding issue for at least a year and apparently has not gotten the attention of the Dropbox folks. I don't get it. This is the kind of issue that obliges users to look elsewhere for solutions. I would think a software company would pay attention to something like this.
* I just tried creating a dummy file in the Dropbox folder on my system and suddenly I'm synced with the server. That's only one data point, but perhaps that's a workaround.
