I started having issues sharing folders on Dropbox over a week ago and receive the message "We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content." This occurs in folders that are newly created as well as for folders that were created in the past that worked fine previously. The content within the folders generally include PDFs and XLS but may also contain JPG and DOC.
I tried contacting Dropbox support and in response received a generic reply that outlined several possible reasons why this is occurring but the options are so broad that it's almost impossible to troubleshoot. I have scanned my computer several times for viruses and nothing has been detected. I'm totally at a loss and it's completely disrupting operations as our organization relies on Dropbox heavily for file sharing. Please help.

3 years agoHey there agliopane, it sounds like your shared links might have been banned.
Would it be OK with you if we reached out via email to have a further look internally?

- Lina6663 years agoExplorer | Level 4Hello,
I just received the same ban because I allegedly misused Dropbox's (in german) very broad "Allgemeinen Geschäftsbedingungen und die Richtlinie über die zulässige Nutzung sowie gegen die Nutzungsbedingungen oder die Dienstleistungsvereinbarung".
In your guidelines the cause could apparently be anything and nothing. I definitely didn't share anything illegal! And I don't know what to look for - honestly think this might be a mistake since I didn't add anything besides pictures that I previously took myself. I never had any issues before and the ban is in effect for longer than 24 hours now!
Which makes no sense since I just uploaded some pictures I took with my own phone and previously working links don't work anymore either. I already contacted your support.

Hi Walter,
I've been getting this same issue where the message pops up that, "We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content." This is fairly recent as it only started a week and a half ago. Only my latest 2 folders that I'm trying to share have this issue. Some of my old folder links still work. Can you please contact me via email to resolve? Thanks in advance!

Was your issue resolved? I'm experiencing the same issue and as yet have not been able to resolve it.
- gazuzu3 years agoExplorer | Level 3I had 2 driver files with a .exe file extension that Dropbox thought were illegitimate files. Both files from large and known companies but ….
I had to delete both files and wait for them to reinstate sharing privileges

Hi Walter,
I'm getting the message "We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content." when trying to share a pdf. The file is 32MB and works on any pdf viewer. Could you help me to share this pdf?
