Missing files inside synced zip files
I upload a zip folder from my phone to the web server and can see a zip folder in my Dropbox files.
I cliick on the folder and can see inside another fiolder with a database file(very small file) I use and then when I click on the folder I can see an audio recording and photos I have uploaded. this is how I have structured the zip file and files and folders inside the zip file. so I see what I expect to see.
However when i open the app on the PC-which I have uninstalled and reinstalled- all I see is the zip folder and the database file-there is no folder inside and no audio file and images inside that folder.
so the web version and the PC version are not syncing despite these being very small test files and the dropbox icon on my task bar telling me everything is up to date.
can you help?

- Hi
7zip works fine. So it looks like an explorer issue.
I tried it late yesterday.
Is there anything we can do with explorer or just ignore it
Thanks

Instead of using the Explorer built-in viewer for zip files, could you use a third party app instead? There are multiple free ones out there on the web, personally I use 7zip at home, so you can use that if you wish.I want to check if 7zip can view the inner files properly, to ensure this isn't an Explorer issue instead of a Dropbox syncing issue. You can uninstall 7zip when you're done testing it. - jeremy b.258 years agoHelpful | Level 57zip works fine. I'd just leave it unfortunately. You could contact Microsoft to let them know about this if you wish, though since you know that another app works fine, it's best to continue using that app.
In general for all OSes, the built-in apps for mail, zip viewer, image previewer and so on, while effective for most purposes, might not work in all situations.
This is why we have paid and free software that has a specialist purpose, one for zipping, video playback, photo viewer, file transfer, etc. These tools are usually more powerful and can handle much more 'variables' than the OS version (since naturally, the operation of the entire computer, the sole purpose of an OS, is more important than making sure a zip file opens well).
Glad to hear that you managed to fix it on your own though! Have a great end of the week! - jeremy b.258 years agoHelpful | Level 5Hi
