My clients need to download files via link, but the "Download" button isn't really visible.
I always end up using some other service to send files because of the huge Login/Signup screen that appears upon clicking the download button and the actual download button is bullied to the bottom of the screen.
It's really embarrassing, you're purposefully deceiving the user who I send the download link to by making them think they have to sign up to get the download link. The font size and overall design of the page is purposefully designed this way, it's unacceptable.
Until this is improved, I'm no longer using dropbox to transfer files. This is not a real feature. This is just me looking like an idiot in front of my clients, apparently trying to advertise dropbox to them.
The download button should be clear and centered; the signup options should be somewhere away from the main space such as the top right.

Hi phee3d, and thanks for your post.
When saying “download link”, I’m guessing you’re referring to a shared link. Correct?
If yes, are you creating shared links with edit or view-only permissions? Are your clients opening them via their computer, or a mobile device?
This info will help me log your feedback properly with our team.
Keep me updated.

If they only need to download the files, have you tried altering the share link to force a download? You can change the dl=0 in the link to dl=1 and it will initiate a download immediately.

Talking about the issue attached in the image. The number of times I've had to convince my clients and contracts that I'm not secretly trying to sell them dropbox is embarrassing. I often have to send them a highlighted image of where to find the download link. It's messed up that a big and apparently reputable service like dropbox would be doing a free mobile game style deception where they hide the skip ad button in places where you're most likely to miss it by design. Not only that, but I'm a paying customer, at least those games are free.
People have been complaining about this ridiculous login/signup page for some time now, but I guess not enough to motivate dropbox to actually do something about it.
If there's no ETA on this deceiving little thing dropbox has been doing, then let me know because I'm out of here in that case.
Here are other people talking about the same issue, as I'm sure you're well aware:
