Pop up alert for duplicate file

When uploading a file to a folder it no longer pops up alerting me I’m uploading a duplicate file (which sometimes do by mistake if not deleted an email etc and forgot I’ve already done it lol!)…how do you turn this on again? Don’t know why it changed or stopped as I haven’t touched any settings. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey KK75, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you please clarify if you're using the website to upload your files or if you're doing it via the desktop app or the mobile app?

When was the last time you got this pop up approximately?

Any additional information is more than welcome!

I do it on my mobile mostly from email attachments.
It always tells me it’s uploaded but the duplicate warning has not popped up for couple months now.
    Thanks for your help!

Hi KK75, could you clarify exactly how you're uploading the file to Dropbox via your mobile device, step-by-step, and where you used to see this message?

Could you try uploading photos via the Dropbox mobile app, or by using the iOS Files app to see if you get this notification?

For those who are popping into this thread after the fact,

Generally speaking, uploading a single or batch file will automatically rename the file if it is a duplicate, this aligns with in-app behavior for files with the same name.

When uploading from a 3rd party app (like Gmail), we attempt to detect duplicates, but may fall back on the default behavior if duplicates were not detected at the time of upload.
