Problem linking my Apple Music library on my old Mac to my new one.

All my Music files (incl. iTunes) are located:

- on my old MacBook Pro (MacOS Monterey 12.7.6): Macintosh HD>Users>myname>Dropbox>My Mac>Music.

- on my new MacBook Air (MacOS Tahoe 26.2): Macintosh HD>Users>myname>Music.

I need to find a way to let my new machine access the Music>iTunes folder from my old Mac in Dropbox. Is that possible?  The "My Mac" folder on my old machine is 'invisible' in Dropbox, if you see what I mean.

I have already copied the old MusicLibrary file from my old MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Air but, of course, the library can't find any of the music tracks which are still located in the Dropbox on the old machine.

Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

FYI, I do not have an Apple Music subscription.

The best thing to do is go into iTunes and change the location of the music library to the new location and make sure that this is, on both devices pointing in to Dropbox.

    Many thanks indeed, Mark.

Do you mean that I should move the MusicLibrary file into the Dropbox area common to both Macs, and then (somehow) instruct Mac Music on each machine to use that MusicLibrary?

Hey SteveSalmonFBIS, thanks for your post.

Hopefully Mark or another user will get back to you on that one, as there's no official Dropbox way to do this.

I'll leave the thread open for anyone who wants to share their experience and suggestions.

    Cheers!

Many thanks indeed, Hannah; 'much appreciated!

I really hope that my problem can be solved ASAP as my music collection is my 'constant companion' every day and I need the best way of accessing it AND securing it.

    Cheers!
