Re: It takes a while for my Android to upload my camera roll

Hi cosmicmadman, thanks for messaging the Community!

Could you try disabling camera uploads on your phone, and then re-enabling it to see if this helps?

Keep me updated with any progress!

disabling then reenabling seemed to work once.  so far, it still hasn't uploaded other new pictures i took after that.  i'm almost sure this is related to the battery optimization thing where it keeps working in the background.  but i'm not sure where the dropbox part is.  or maybe the interval is different if i select "backup.... new photos only",  or "continuous camera uploads"

New photos only means that from the moment you enabled it, only new photos would be uploaded, so and photos taken before that time wouldn't be uploaded. It wouldn't make any difference to the interval when using that one or continuous camera uploads.

Each version of Android and device might show a different method for battery optimization, so you might need to check with the device manufacturer on where to see this in the settings.

I change it to upload all photos.  And I found out the battery optimization for dropbox is unrestricted.  Took more photos.  Nothing gets uploaded.  So there's clearly something wrong and its likely not my fault.

    Hey cosmicmadman!

Would you mind clarifying your OS, along with the version of the Dropbox mobile app that you're using?

Can you include a screenshot of the Camera Uploads settings in the Dropbox app along with your Dropbox permissions settings?
(Note: These are settings for your device, not the Dropbox app.)
On Android, find this by opening system “Settings” and finding “Dropbox” in the “Apps” section.

    Windows 10,  dropbox 422.2.2
not sure why the OS matters, I'm just using the dropbox website with Firefox.

Hi from me as well, cosmicmadman! I believe Megan was referring to the OS version of the Android device you have this issue on.

Is your phone constantly connected to your WiFi network, as it appears that you have cellular data disabled for the camera uploads feature?
