Re: My Dropbox app on macOS 15.4.1 has stopped syncing and is stuck indexing files.

Thanks for the screenshot and the update, Mikkel1973.

You mentioned that this started happening after your logged out and back in to the Dropbox app, right?

Were you previously using the File Provider version of the Dropbox app?

Where is your Dropbox folder located now according to the "sync" tab in the Dropbox preferences?

I was not triggered by me logging in and out, but I have tried to do so on the way as one of many attempts to try to resolve the issue.

Re File Provider yes it seems so, at least that is what it says in the preferences.

    /Users/[removed]/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox

    Thanks for the update, Mikkel.

Can you follow these steps to see if they help?

That did change anything. It was not allowed to change preferences.

I tried to log out from my Dropbox account in the App. Now I cannot log on again. The App keeps telling me, that it is waiting to be connected to a Dropbox account.

Fairly unstable solution to use on my part.

Hi again, Mikkel. If you’re currently on a free Basic plan, I’d like you to go here and clarify how many devices you currently see linked to your Dropbox account (under the Devices section).

There’s currently a limit of 3 linked devices for free accounts, so I’d like to make sure that’s not the reason why you can't sign back in to the desktop app now.

There are three devises in use.

However, following my last reply, I rebooted the Mac thrice. Firstly, to se if that changed anything with respect to being unable to log on. And secondly, as I was able to login after the first, if it changed anything with regard to sync.

The result was that as I left home for work this morning, the app had indexed and nearly synced everything. It stalled again, but a third reboot got it to the end.

Fingers crossed, I have now transferred all other files than those who rely on a Dropbox to other, more stable, cloud platforms, and home that it shall remain stable enough for this purpose for now.

    Mikkel
