Ridiculously slow upload speeds both when using the desktop app, and website.
I've tried uploading through the website and using the windows app. In both cases I'm lucky if i get 1/100 of what my actual upload limit is. I'm trying to upload about 4gb worth of files and it's s...

I think I found a solution for myself. I noticed that on my laptop, on the same network as my PC, even if connected via wifi, i was getting faster speeds. Did some googling and I found a network setting that when i adjusted it, improved my network speeds overall.
If you open a command prompt with admin priviledges, run the command
netsh interface tcp dump
is autotuninglevel=disabled? if so try this
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
then try uploading or downloading and see if you get better results.

Could you also give these steps (for Mac) a try?

Hi Lusil, unfortunately I'm still having upload speed issues. Any other troubleshooting I can try on a Mac?

Hi Lusil,
I don't have any security software on antivirus on my Mac. Sorry, not sure what you mean by "Do you also only get this issue when you're trying to sync files from the web by any chance?" The issue I'm experiencing is when trying to sync from my desktop to Dropbox (using the desktop app).

Thanks for trying that out, ache75.
I can see that you're also troubleshooting this with Walter on this thread.
Have you given their suggestion a try? - Alanl335 years agoExplorer | Level 4
We've had the same problem, use Filezilla Pro (Supports DB login) and open up multiple channels for export directly into your Dropbox storage. It's blazing fast! We're superusers with over 30TB of DB storage for video production.

No worries, ache75.
Just remember that if you're on a Basic (free) account, there’s a three device limit and you'll have to make sure that you've got less than three devices connected to proceed. - merk5 years agoHelpful | Level 6

I am also experiencing the same issue here. Super slow upload speed via Dropbox desktop App ( v 120.4.4598 ) and I am running Windows 7. It used to be good and only recently noticed super slow upload speed. Funny thing is, upload via chrome browser works and utilizes my bandwidth to the max which is great. I have tried reinstalling the app, playing around with settings, rebooting router and modem, speed tests, tried that fix by merk. All to no avail and have wasted too much time on this. It is not my internet, as upload speeds are great to Google Drive and other speedtests, even the dropbox browser upload is fast.
Conclusion is the desktop app upload is slow. Definitely something wrong with the desktop app. So tempted to try the Filezilla Pro option, have to pay though =(
Please fix this Dropbox! - Institor5 years agoHelpful | Level 5
Same problem here. Windows7 + desktop app.
Got about 1 mbps, tried reinstalling, relogin. etc. to no avail.
- Institor5 years agoHelpful | Level 5No, i am switching to Syncthing + private server. I am done with dropbox, it's too much bull...t for too little service (not to mention the monstrosity they call "desktop app" and laughable prices). A bit of a learning curve with bittorrent-like apps, but totally worth it.
