'Save to My Dropbox' option on shared link is gone

Gotcha, that explains the sudden disappearance of the button/feature.
Will this new sharing experience still have the save a copy option or is that feature permanently gone for good and we'll only be able to join the folder once fully rolled out? If the latter, what happens if you join a folder and the folder owner removes it from their end?

Dropbox EngineerThe save a copy option is currently available on web. This is something we will look to explore on mobile (both iOS and Android), although we don't have a timeline for it just yet.
For this new folder link share experience, if the folder owner were to remove it on their end, any receiver that has joined the folder before the deletion happens will still have access to the content.
