Splitting a common shared dropbox between two drives of a computer

7 years agoHey there shubh003 - how are you today?
The best way for this would be to use selective sync to remove the folders you don't want synced to the computer in question as you won't be able to sync a Dropbopx folder to your account frmo two different locations (i.e. drives).
Selective Sync is a feature that allows you to choose which folders to sync to a particular computer. It's a great option if you'd like to free up disk space without moving Dropbox to an external drive.
By default, all folders in Dropbox automatically sync to any computer that's linked to your Dropbox account. If you'd like to prevent a folder from syncing to your computer, un-check the box next to the folder's name. Any folders you deselect will stop syncing to your hard drive, but will still be available through the website and on any other computer linked to your Dropbox account.
Additionally, while Dropbox can indeed be used with an external hard drive, you'll need to ensure the drive is always connected to your computer while Dropbox is running. If the drive is ever disconnected from the computer while Dropbox is running there is a small chance that the Dropbox software will start deleting files before realizing that the entire drive has been removed.
If you need to move your Dropbox folder to an external drive, make sure that its file system is meeting our requirements (as outlined https://help.dropbox.com/desktop-web/system-requirements) and use the steps in the following Help Center article: https://help.dropbox.com/desktop-web/move-dropbox-folder
I hope this information helps and please keep me posted on your progress!

Hello Walter,
Thanks for the efforts and your time.
But as I mentioned before, I don't want to connect any external hard drive.
I have only two drives in my laptop, which are C and D.
Now, there are 6 or 7 dropbox folders which sync in Drive C.
As I mentioned before, C is almost full and I need to move few drobox folders, may be 4, to D.
From your reply, it seems that the selective syncing won't allow me to move the folders to Drive D but stop syncing of the uchecked folders in drive C instead. Correct?
But this is not what I want.
In simple language, is it possible to cut a few of the dropbox folders from Drive C and paste them in Drive D and then continue syncing?
