"This folder can only be shared as a link.", but the link also gives an error.

I am trying to share a folder with my wife. I try to share it and it says "This folder can only be shared as a link."

I share the link with her and she needs to request access. I click "approve" and I get the following:

Error (500) Something went wrong. Don't worry, your files are still safe and the Dropbox team has been notified. Check out our Status Page to see if there is a known incident, our Help Center and forums for help, or head back to home.

What is my problem?

Thanks for posting about this on our forum, mossbeach!

Can you send me a full screenshot of the first message you mention? Is this folder located within another shared folder, by any chance?

I’d also like a screenshot of what your wife sees on her end when trying to open the link.

Let me know when you’re ready and I’ll have a look.

Here's my screen. My wife isn't around right now, so can't get her screen.

I was able to share some folders underneath my main one, but I wanted to share the root folder.

I just tried that and yes, I get the same results.

Could you try creating another top folder and try to share that with your wife or even create a shared folder directly and let us know how it goes mossbeach?

I created a shared folder and shared it with my wife. I tried to move my top-level folder into it and it won't let me move previously shared folders into a shared folder. Looks like I need to go through all my folders and unshare them. Is there an easy way to figure out what is shared?

Yes, that shows me what I wanted to know. I think I'm going to just stay with the a la carte method. I wanted to share everything under the tab, but will just keep it how I have been doing it. Thanks for the attempt.
