3 years agoHey becklouis, thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to our Community!
Can you please clarify how exactly are you sharing this file with your client?
Is it through a shared folder, a shared link or did you use the transfer feature perhaps?
Are you both able to see the same file on the website by the way?
Keep me posted!

Hey Walter,
Thank you for your prompt feedback.
We used to send the document via email as an attachment or via a file transfer service if it was too heavy.
I both cases, this process didn't allow us to run an effective file tracking.
We're thus looking for a solution or process that would allow to share a given version of a file and easily track to whom it was sent and when.
Let me know if that clarifies my request and it DropBox provides such a solution?

Hey becklouis, sorry to jump in here.
I believe that if you add the file to a folder and then share this folder with your recipient, you should be able to accomplish what you're after.
Once the folder is shared, when previewing the file, you should also be able to see activity on the file, like when it was shared/viewed, etc.
I hope this helps!

Thank you Hanna for your message.
Would the tracking also work if you sent the file without placing it in a folder first?
Have a good day,
