Users don't get an email confirmation when uploading multiple files via file request.

I am trying to enable my users to upload files directly from their iPhones (Files apps) using a file request. When my users upload a single file (in response to clicking the file request link), they receive a confirmation message when complete. When they upload multiple files they receive no confirmation message.  In both cases I, the account owner, receive messages indicating the users have submitted files, and the files are located the the correct DB folder associated with the file request.  Thank you.

Hannah - thanks for your efforts on this!  I'll check that out.  I will also (tomorrow) send you summary of the tests that I've done.  By the way, the account owner (owner of the dropbox) always gets an email message.

Apologies for the delay here, heritagehunt photoclub.

We took some time to test things out, and from our end we were able to reproduce the expected behavior, which is the two points in my previous reply.

Would you mind confirming that the email address you tested this with, is definitely not associated with a Dropbox account?

You can confirm by trying the "forgot password" link using that address, to see if you're getting a password reset email.

If you do, it means that there's a Dropbox account associated with that address.

    Hannah - jump in please!

I thought those two requirements pertained to the appearance and population of the 'your name' and 'your email' boxes on the submittal page. I understood these boxes to appear if the submitter is not logged into a db account when they submit.  No?

I made sure the account I used to test uploading via file request had no db account associated with it.  My problem, to summarize, is that when a submitter submits more than one file (from the iOS Files app) in response to a file request opened in an iPhone there appears to be no confirmation sent to that submitter.  If a single file is submitted, however, a confirmation message is sent to the submitter.

Hey heritagehunt photoclub, I hope it's okay to jump in here.

An uploader must meet the following conditions to receive email notifications after uploading a file to a file request:

    1. Uploading is done while logged into a verified Dropbox account
    2. The uploader is not logged in, but their email address is linked to a verified Dropbox account

Can you confirm that the criteria above are met in all cases you observed?

  • Yes.  Just no confirmation email to the file request respondent (account that uses the file request) if it submits multiple files in one posting from iPhone

Hey Walt! Hope you’re doing well.

Besides the lack of email confirmation, do they/you see a confirmation that the files have been successfully added to your Dropbox account on the file request window (once the uploading is complete)?

When the users submit one file via the file request, they do get a confirmation message to their email address.  When the users submit more than one file via the file request they receive no confirmation.  The user's email address is the same in both cases.

I have verified this behavior using two of my email addresses which are not associated with dropbox accounts and two that are associated with dropbox accounts.  This non-confirmation behavior does NOT occur when they use MacBooks.  It only happens when they post from iPhone.

    Thank you

    Walt

Hi there heritagehunt photoclub, thanks for reaching out to us!

Do they receive this message on the email address they entered when using the File Request?

Generally, when someone submits a file request, they should receive a notification to the email address that they entered. Could you ask them to see if the email notification went to their Spam folder by any chance?

Let me know of any updates, thanks!
