Basic Account Space reduced from 16GB to 2GB
I had 16GB of storage space on my basic account due to referrals I made. Few months ago they reduced it to 2GB. I thought storage increases earned through referrals did not have an expiration.

Hey thejanman, welcome to our Community!
Referral space is indeed permanent, and does not get removed from your available quota, so let's see what we can find out.
Where did you initially see that your space was down to 2 GB?
If you go to your account settings here, how much space does it report?
If it's a different amount, is it possible that you have a second free account with just 2 GB instead?
Let me know what you find.

3 years agoHey free4cat00, sorry to repeat myself here, but could you send us a screenshot of your plan tab to see what's reported there in regards to your account's quota?

Not sure what you are asking since it is a free account.
Dropbox Basic
Free2 GB of storage to help you store and share files.
Your Personal Dropbox account is full Using 37.5 GB of 18.75 GB
Is that what you are asking for?

So your account's overall quota is 18.75 GB. What makes you think that your additional space was removed from your account free4cat00?
- free4cat003 years agoExplorer | Level 4What make me think that?
The fact that I had this quota for more than 10 years. Do you think is a good enough reason?
I have to say that this conversation doesn’t seem positive nor seem like you are trying to resolve the issue. You are inside the company: you should have the tools to verify that what I’m saying is true.
I do not lie - why seems like I have to prove it?

The maximum space you can earn through referrals is 16 GB on the Basic plan while this goes up to 32 GB if on the Professional, Plus or Family plans free4cat00
Did you redeem a different promotion in the past perhaps which granted you with more quota?

My space seems reduced to 2GB on some pages and in a warning mail.
On the https://www.dropbox.com/manage/subscriptions/dropbox-single-seat
on the other hand it seems to have right (almost 8GB) amount.

Mail subject says: "Please read: We noticed you're not taking advantage of your Dropbox account."
Note: This is true. I'm over or close to the quota.
https://www.dropbox.com/out-of-space?_camp=15321&_tk=prompt_top says Using 7.75 GB of 2 GB space
And that's not true.
The page "get more space" used to show correct space, possibly promo options and referral bonus.
Now it shows only the base amount.
https://www.dropbox.com/home shows correct space now. (After click to profile. Used to be visible directly.)

Hey Tin1, sorry to jump in here.
Can you send us what you see on these pages in a screenshot, instead? Unfortunately, we’re not allowed to click on any links, due to security reasons, on the forum.
You can click on the small camera icon above your message box though, to upload your screenshots.

Hello Walter,
I am unfamiliar with the current different Dropbox plans.
I can only say that I've been your customer since 2008, and I got this "extra free storage" within the next 12 months.
That means I had that free storage allocation for 14 years until 2-3 weeks ago when someone decided to REMOVE them.
It is clearly not only unfair, but you are also breaking a long-standing commercial agreement.
And it seems obvious to me that the ONLY thing you need to do is to look at your systems and verify what I am saying.
Can you do that, please?
Thanks

No one here has that kind of access into your account. For that you would need to contact Support directly. However, what Walter has said is true; at no point has Dropbox offered more than 16GB of referral space (32GB for paid accounts). Dropbox also does not remove space earned through referrals.
Have you looked at your Referrals page? It will show you all the space you have earned going back to the beginning of your account, along with how it was earned and if any of it has expired.

Thanks for the quick answer.
Yes, I just looked at it, and this is what I see... 16.75 Gb earned, in addition to whatever I have/had free (2Gb).
So, now.... what do we do?
- free4cat003 years agoExplorer | Level 4
From what I see...16.75 was my total: 16 Gb from referrals and 750 Mb from Camera Uploads and Getting Started.

From everything you've posted, it's showing that you have all of the space that you've earned. You previously posted that your total quota shows as 18.75GB. You started with 2GB, earned 16GB from referrals and another 750MB from other promotions, for a total of 18.75GB. And the screenshots of your Referrals page don't show that any space has been removed recently (it would have a line item showing Expired for any space that was removed).
The problem here seems to be that you have to 33.9GB of shared files that are taking up space in your account, putting you over your quota. Remove the shared folders from your account and you'll have 15.15GB of available space.
