Deleting files doesn't free up space in my account
Dropbox Plan Basic Device iMac but irrelevant Operating System/Browser (if using the web) macOS14.6.1 but irrelevant Dropbox App Version (if using the app) N/A

Thats a bug with Updraft - Dropbox wouldnt delete things on its own.

Space is usually recovered instantly, but, can take a few hours if on a Team.

It really isnt. The usual one is user error over http://www.dropbox.com/backups due to the poor user interface.
What does http://www.dropbox.com/account/plan show?
