Dropbox error: "ERROR: The save failed due to out of memory or disk space."
Dropbox Plan - Basic
Device - Windows 11 Lenovo Laptop
Operating System/Browser (if using the web) - Windows 11 / Firefox Browser
Dropbox App Version (if using the app) - 238.4.6305
Question or Issue
Good day,
Please can you urgently assist in this matter...
I have a basic plan but due to Dropbox option to invite others to the platform I have accumulated 6,75Gb in total. My current usage is 3,91Gb but now Dropbox is giving me an error when saving additional / updating existing files.
ERROR: The save failed due to out of memory or disk space.
I have enough local diskspace and memory available, dropbox storage utilized is more that what the basic plan allowed but have more space available due to above reason... enough freespace is available.
Your urgent assistance will be appreciated.
Thank you
Franna
Hello Megan,
Thank you for your reply. I found that my other cloud storage gave me the same problem.. pointing to a problem with my PC like you said or with Microsoft Word.
I have increased my page file size but this did not resolve the problem.I found a Microsoft page which indicated that the normal.dotm file could be corrupt. I renamed the normal.dotm file to normal.old and start word again.
This resolved my problem.
Thank you and kind regards

Hi there, Franna welcome to our Community!
Thanks for the screenshot, it is super helpful.
Based on everything you described it sounds like this error is coming from your PC. Can you confirm if that's the case?
Feel free to have a look at the relevant Help Center article, and also at these steps provided by Microsoft to check your device's storage settings. Could you let me know what you find in terms of your local storage space, and RAM memory?
Lastly, do you get the same error if you visit your account online and try to upload content that way?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!
