My account keeps saying it's full - but it isn't
Hi - I have a 6.3 GB basic account with less that 1.2 GB of data in it, but I keep getting notifications saying the account is full, and it isn't syncing. I've double checked my folders and cleaned o...

Hi,
So it appears that there can be backups that don't show up in your backups page, but are actually still there taking up room. Dropbox support was able to identify it for me and send me a link that would get me to it directly. If you've initiated a backup of your PC that never finished you might have the same issue i did. If you go to the link posted below, and find there are directories there with stuff in them that might be the source of your issues. Once i removed them from dropbox online, my dropbox storage started was I actually had backed up an everything sorted itself. Hope this helps, if not escalating it with dropbox after the contact you will likely have them see a folder that you can't, which they can link you to directly.

Hi All,
My Dropbox account was low on free space (1.83GB used out of 2GB).
I deleted all files through dropbox.com
The "All Files" menu is now not showing any file at all.
Still the used quota reported in the account section shows 1.83GB used and dropbox always proposes to do an upgrade to Pro.
Am I missing something ?
Thanks

Wait a few hours and check your usage again. Also check your Backups page.

Wow.
The backup page was indeed holding 2 backup files totaling 1.8GB.
A bit puzzling that no link to this backup page exists on the dropbox.com main screen.
Thanks a lot!
- Foppkn3 years agoNew member | Level 2Hi DB users, I'm new here. I have an issue with the above message. As far as I am aware, my DB is empty and I keep getting that message. Is this a way of getting you to upgrade or is there some way I can resolve this issue without upgrading on a subscription.
Looking forward to some advice.

Hi there, Foppkn, happy Monday!
Can you take a look at your account's plan page, and let me know what it reports? What about your Backup page?
Keep me posted!

Hi ngiglietto76
Just for info deleted files dont use quota, so, deleting the trash doesnt do anything.
Have you looked at www.dropbox.com/backups to see if you have activated that and if its using file space?
- ngiglietto763 years agoExplorer | Level 3
Hi, I haven't activated any backups, I can't understand why 13.24 gb out of 16.75 gb are used, can you help me solve the problem? Thanks

I've browsed the Community and Reddit.. have tried several things to no avail. My dropbox is full and I have no files. Here is what I have done:
- Removed all Shared Folders from the "shared" tab
- Permanently deleted all items from the "deleted" tab
- Unlinked all devices
- Uninstalled and Reinstalled Dropbox App, newest update
- Confirmed that I've never started a Backup (there was nothing to delete in Backup menu).
- Cleared my Cache.
What am I missing???

I don't see any active backups on my end. Here are what those screens look like. I have about 22mb of files in my dropbox now. Nothing else. No backups no shared folders, no deleted files. I've gotten rid of everything.

I created account some years ago, when I received 16GB as a promotion. Since this time I use Dropbox as my private storage. Some time ago I got the message, that my DB account is full - used 27Gb of allowed 16Gb.
I don't have even 16GB, not saying about 27. I deleted a lot of old staff, but have the same message - you use 27Gb instead of allowed 16 and invitation to buy new plan.
if anybody met this before?

I have deleted almost everything from my Dropbox and before I delete Dropbox completely, please help. After all the deletions I am still getting the same message stating I have used 113% of my free storage. Please help me find a solution without upgrading. I really don't need that much space. Thank you!

Hi, I get the "dropbox is full" message on my computer and when logged in online to dropbox (free account). I guess I was near the full amount, but I've deleted files down to about 50 megabytes. I also cleared dropbox trash (online), I have no shared files. Any ideas on how I can use dropbox again, and have it sync files? This has happened before, and when I deleted files, everything was fine. Is this maybe a new policy now, when you reach near full, your account is locked until upgrade?
