No additional space on Business Advanced anymore.
Dear community,
I'm here to advice that the support have been denying us additional space for two weeks, first telling us that there was a momentary problem, then that we had made a request before ...

I agree, DB has much faster servers and a higher api limit. I can max out my 5gb upload speed on fiber to DB. I can only get half a gig upload ( 500mbps = 50MB/s ) on Box. However, if they drop the plan and will no longer offer as much as needed, well..
Box will have to work...for now. As far as the api goes, I went into our corporate reports, rclone has registered 500,000 api uses for 6 users. That's literally 1,000x higher then the 50,000 our account comes with. Still is a mystery on what really uses the actual API that takes away your 50,000 uses.

Back to box.com test. Upload over command line with 28 threads very fast 60 up to 110 MB's. Download over networkstorage is very very slow. 0,5 up to 2 MB's. result to box.com = useless. Dropbox is despite the current limit, it's better for everyone. Please Dropbox, get away from the 1 TB limit per month. 😁
- cgi_ltd3 years agoCollaborator | Level 10I can stream a 100gb iso file via rclone mount with no problems. It does take longer to load vs DB, but for 1PB of storage for $20/mo, it's not bad for a backup of backup. When you setup an rclone mount adding --transfers=15 helps with big files. I am also using an HD Home Run device that can load read and playback full .iso images, I can load a full .iso image with menus and playback the full 100gb file fine.
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12$20? What is the package?
- cgi_ltd3 years agoCollaborator | Level 10The standard business plan with a 5gb single file limit. Minimum of 3 users required, but every is allocated "unlimited " space, but when you login to the mobile app, you see you max storage as a little over 900TB per user. The single file limit is easily handled with rclone chunker, it will split any file above 5gb into "chunks" and when you goto read the file, it sees it as 1 big file.
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12Indeed, it can be a good alternative. Once the limit of 900 tb is used, what does it happen?
- cgi_ltd3 years agoCollaborator | Level 10IDK, but, remember that it is per USER not per account. Each user is basically given 1PB of storage. 3 users gets you 3 PB of storage, if each of them use up their 900tb. They may start looking at your account if you only have 3 users and are storing 3pb of data tho lol
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12I'm going to think a little more lol, but if DB continues like this it's not possible to continue like that 12 to a year for the price to pay ...., 1 pb per user it's more than enough!
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12Would you have a tutorial to connect box.com to rclone because I get an error when I try to connect. In addition, how to add chunky once the connection is made?

sure that you want to discuss box setup and issues in the dropbox forum?
dropbox has major issues in delivering what they still keep falsely promoting and selling to their customers! - to resolve this should be the main focus in the dropbox forum. - Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12For the moment drobpox ignore its customers...
- Duncan Macintyre3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
I agree with Nitr0: as long as Dropbox Support continues to ignore its customers, and refrain from addressing any of the issues with its own service brought up in this forum and elsewhere, it makes perfect sense for us customers to assume that the problems are serious enough to threaten continuity of service and consider options like Box.

To reinforce focus on one of the point we need to discuss in the form, let me quote the message I just sent to Dropbox Support:
"Please provide the first additional 10TB that I need in order to start the multi-terabyte copy of data from my disks to Dropbox. If you can’t provide the storage I need immediately, then I ask that you revise the both the promise “as much as you need” currently on your website and the price of Dropbox Business Advanced service. Either deliver or provide rebates and refunds, starting with me, and by all mean continuing to include all affected customers. In other words, put up or shut up and pay back!I look forward to hearing from you at your very earliest convenience.Duncan Macintyre" - sphen3 years agoCollaborator | Level 8The r clone documentation is very good and walks you through how to connect. It also states that chunking is on by default with box. https://rclone.org/box/
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12
they will not answer you, or else apologize to you but nothing more because for the moment "the problem" is being analyzed in order to agree on a livable solution first for THEM and then for the customers. ...

I was told today, that I can only have 1TB per month. The last communication with Dropbox was 10TB per week. Now it's 1TB per month!
They don't seem to wish to talk about this or talk to us about the problem.
They are now not telling me this is a problem but how it is now. but have had no email about this change with things nothing!
What is going on? Why such the change? when I signed up I told them the space i needed and what i use it for. I use a lot of video and sending and getting it from places.

I tried both, I got an "invalid client" error message

Is this really the right thread for this box conversation? Take it to PMs or outside of this thread.
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12
you can go your way if the discussion bothers you, it's a simple matter of using rclone.
- M3th0s3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
Not really, it's a simple matter of you being off topic. Create another thread if that's useful, however none of this has anything to do with the problems that companies/business advanced users are experiencing with Dropbox.
Wanna share tips on Rclone? Use discord of something along the lines, but this is not the right place for it.
Is that any clearer?
- OfficeInCT3 years agoCollaborator | Level 9
M3th0s Actually it is helpful for those who are looking at other options if Dropbox continues to drop the ball. If someone comes up with a viable solution, you'd rather have on an entirely different website?
- Niitr03 years agoExperienced | Level 12
M3th0s ,
rclone can be used with dropbox so I don't see the problem. so far it has not bothered anyone, there is no insult or problem between the members of this discussion. so if my message bothers you you don't have to answer it, I just asked for help because there are experts on the subject.
- M3th0s3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
OfficeInCT that's not what I asked. This thread is for the issue to get resolved. Getting into the nitty gritty of Rclone documentation and how-tos doesn't really belong here and only fattens the thread.
Suggestion would be, create another thread, name it "dropbox alternatives after the 1TB hoohaa" or whatever and take it there. That way people can follow this more closely.
- OfficeInCT3 years agoCollaborator | Level 9
M3th0s I can see what you're saying. In my experience I know I get annoyed when I'm on a forum thread and someone says the answer is in another thread but doesn't link to it; or they link to it but it's in the middle of page 20 out of 50 pages of the thread. Simpler, to me, when it's all chronological. That being said, I can see where you're coming from.
