Referral sent to a friend marks as inelegible
Hi
I sent a request to a friend for them to install Dropbox. They followed all the process steps and were awarded 259mb. On my account against their referral email, it is marked as ineligible.
This does not make any sense, they set up the account on a different computer. So why is this marked as ineligible? Can someone please look into this for.

I just wanted to mention that when the recipient is ineligible for the referral program, there are two possible reasons:
One is that the recipient has already registered an account with Dropbox with that email address, or that the recipient is attempting to register using the same computer as you.
If you feel this status is inaccurate double-check the email address of your recipient to try again.

But since we are all different users, isn't there a way to resolve it from your end? We are getting penalized by not doing anything wrong, just not being aware on how Dropbox works. We referred each other genuinely and still now facing issues.

Sure thing, apologies if I wasn't clear!
Basically, each user that receives a referral invite link, needs to install the Dropbox desktop app on their computer and sign in with the email address that was invited.
If it's all been done on the same network, that could also be a reason for the ineligibility.
You can see more about this on Neal's FAQ page which should help, but let me know if you still have an issue after checking out those steps.

Hi Hannah, Can you please clarify?
We created the signup on a same WIFI and then installed on our own PC's on a different internet connection. Is that what you are implying is the issue here?

Did you all install the Dropbox desktop app on separate computers and sign in to your accounts on it, when you accepted the referral invitation?
If not, that would be a reason the referrals show as ineligible.

I along with 2 of my friends got a referral from my third friend's account. All of us are being shown as ineligible for referral.
Can you please share the reason? Is it because we used the same WIFI?

Hi, I sent a referral invite to my son's email, but the first signup attempt was made on the same computer I used. That caused the referral to be marked as “Ineligible.”
My son is new to Dropbox and tried again on a different device, but the referral still shows as ineligible.
Is there any way to fix this?

There arent. As that isnt the point of the promotion I'm afraid. The requirements are that it is installed on a unique computer (not even a mobile or tablet works).

We are 5 people in the household, while some have their own computers, not everyone does. This was done on the family pc.
We are multiple people using it.
What alternatives are in place to ensure that all family members can use dropbox on the same computer, AND that the referral bonus can be used from the referrals on it? - Mark8 months ago

Its inelegibe because of the fact you havent met the requirements of the promotion - which is that it is installed on to a unique computer. As you have uninstalled your own Dropbox and installed theres and then uninstalled again it doesnt meet that requirement. This has been in for a long long time to prevent abuse.
