Referral sent to a friend marks as inelegible
Hi
I sent a request to a friend for them to install Dropbox. They followed all the process steps and were awarded 259mb. On my account against their referral email, it is marked as ineligible.
This does not make any sense, they set up the account on a different computer. So why is this marked as ineligible? Can someone please look into this for.
My email is <<removed to avoid spam>>
Regards, Tahir
- Hey Ranim Al-shakifi, thanks for joining the discussion here and happy Monday!
I just wanted to mention that when the recipient is ineligible for the referral program, there are two possible reasons:
One is that the recipient has already registered an account with Dropbox with that email address, or that the recipient is attempting to register using the same computer as you.
If you feel this status is inaccurate double-check the email address of your recipient to try again.

Hi Megan,
I have a similar issue. I used TeamViewer to help my friend Harry set up Dropbox, and I thought it would be a good idea to use the invitation link.
unfortunally it resulted in ineligibility, and I can't really understand why. Thanks for your help in advance

Thank you for the quick response. 3 out of 4 are on different network then mine so this doesn't make sense why it's not working and yes, tried and tested everything.

Hi there, saaad3ali, welcome to our Community!
One of the reasons a referral might appear as ineligible on the Dropbox site is because the user attempted to activate the referral from the same network as yours. Could this be the case?
You can also check this section of Help Center for more info and this FAQ right here. Can you also confirm that they've tried these steps?
This will help me to assist further!

I did sent multiple invitations via direct link to fellows who never used the Dropbox service before and for all the installations, I am getting ineligible.

Hi Behzad69, are you certain that the other users weren't connected using a VPN or something connected to the university network from home when activating the referral?

Some students signed up from home using new emails and their own networks, while others used the university Wi-Fi. Regardless of the method, none were recognized as eligible.

Hey Behzad69, sorry to see that you're having an issue with your referrals.
Are all the recipients using the same computer or IP address to accept the referrals? That could be a cause of the issue you're having.
Check out this article with the possible causes and fixes for this issue.
