You'll need to access the preferences in the desktop app, click the Backup tab, and then Manage Backup. From there you can remove the Downloads folder from the backup.

3 years agoHi Michelle31, thanks for letting me know about your ticket number!
Keep in mind that, if you don't have Backup enabled, you shouldn't have an issue with this as mentioned in the Help Center article.
It's possible your specific case differs slightly, so please feel free to let me know if you're still having issues without Backup being enabled, or feel free to reply back to your ticket since you're already in touch with a specialist. Thank you!

Megan - the issue for me is when I update Dropbox to the newest version. I have the old version and yes I have my computer backed up. Everything is ok with the old version. The issues seems to be with the new update and airdrop. And just like everyone else on this thread has mentioned, seems to have the same issue. When will the new update be fixed for this specific issue?

Airdrop also broken for me, and it somehow doesnt really let me manage my backups, i can not select or deselect any folders. At this point i have three different backups. Very annoying.

Hey pedrottic & jonasklock, are you still having issues with disabling the Dropbox backup feature?

This issue has been going on for several months now and you still have not come up with a solution to this problem you caused? This is ridiculous!

It is.. Every day I go to delete a screen shot from my desktop and it no longer puts it into my TrashCan, the only option is to permanently delete..
The whole situation is a bit out of hand at this point.
