Bring back the green 'synced' checkmark in the system tray.
In my Windows system tray (next to the clock), Dropbox used to show that it was fully synced by showing a green check-mark over the Dropbox icon. This was really helpfull.
If Dropbox was offline, it would show no overlay icon.
Recently (and according to Dropbox itsself) this has changed, the Dropbox icon now shows no overlay if it is fully synced, but to me, i constantly think my Dropbox is offline, instead of 'fully synced'.
So the idea is: please bring back the green 'fully synced' checkmark. Or -at least- make it an option to show it.

Edit: Thanks for doing your icon Lestersk I didn't notice you had done it when I made this post, ty so much!
Here is the icon I made.
1. Copy dropbox.exe file from its location on your PC to your desktop.
2. Open the file in ResourceHacker
3. Find the "Icon Group" section, then find the 201 folder
4. Right click the 201 folder and go to "replace icon"
5. Find the icon file you downloaded below and replace the icon
6. Save-as the new exe but name it something like Dropbox with greencheck.exe
7. Copy and paste this file in your dropbox folder along side your regular dropbox.exe
8. Rename dropbox.exe to something like dropbox-backup.exe
9 Rename the new dropbox file to what you need it to be, dropbox.exe
Note: new updates to dropbox you will probably have to do this again so save the icon file to dropbox also

I don't think that the green button needs to come back. I'd be happy if it did, but I don't think it's necessary. What they need to do is increase the difference between the "online" icon and the "offline" icon. Those two icons are too similar now. Maybe, if they don't want to bring the green checkmark back, they could add a red x when you're offline. I don't just use it to see if Dropbox is online, I keep that in my status tray because I want to see if my computer is online.

Can't get Dropbox to use the edited icon. Have been using resource hacker and followed instructions 100%
It just wont show anything else than the new ugly icon without green checkmark, arghhh
Anyone else having problems with replacing icon?

This has been the final straw. Dropbox keps adding bits and changing stuff, and to behonest what for. The idea was simple, replicate data across computers and devices, now they appear to be makign changes for change sake.
Final straw, Ive been a paid user witha a TB of space for 6 or 7 years. Ive just bought 1TB from google for half the price and am transffering 90% of my data there. Im dropping to the free version but will close out once I replace all the functionality of DB.
- JolieM9 years agoExplorer | Level 4I promise not to use naughty words. DropBox is still the best system whether one has 1 computer or 100 computers. I hate to see the green check mark taken away on the system tray icon. It is much easier to look at the DropBox badge with a green check mark to know that all is well than to look at a blank box. I guess new people signing up for your service won't miss it if they have never seen the green check mark. As the old adage goes, "If one has not tasted chocolate, one will not miss it. Unfortunately me and several million other users have tasted chocolate. Speaking for myself and probably countless other users, BRING BACK THE GREEN CHECK MARK IN THE SYSTEM TRAY.

Well, i found an older version of Dropbox and installed it.. But it just updated automatic.
Then i found 2 Services "DropboxUpdateService" that i just deactivated.
Then i installed Dropbox 34.4.22 again and now i got my dropbox has a green checkmark where it should be.
No update until the green checkmark is back in a new version!
