Bring back the green 'synced' checkmark in the system tray.
In my Windows system tray (next to the clock), Dropbox used to show that it was fully synced by showing a green check-mark over the Dropbox icon. This was really helpfull.
If Dropbox was offline, it would show no overlay icon.
Recently (and according to Dropbox itsself) this has changed, the Dropbox icon now shows no overlay if it is fully synced, but to me, i constantly think my Dropbox is offline, instead of 'fully synced'.
So the idea is: please bring back the green 'fully synced' checkmark. Or -at least- make it an option to show it.

WTF is wrong with software developers?
Why did you do this?

Completely agree. Now you must hover over the icon to distinguish if it's updated or if it is disconnected or the DP app has crashed.
Vague gray for disconected... vague.
At a certain moment when something is good and people want to make improvements, instead they worsen it. That is the case here. If it ain't broken don't fix it.
BRING BACK THE GREEN CHECKMARK ICON on the db icon in the taskbar.
And oh yeah the blue db icon was also nicer than the black. And why is there a orange shovel icon for syncing instead of the round arrows?

Just registered on the forum to add my voice to this discussion.
Having a clear visual indicator that everything is synced was so much easier. Bring back the green tick mark.
Faded/Non-faded as a means of showing status is a very poor design decision.
Very dissapointed.

I have been puzzled and angry about this change from the very first. The all-black UI is unhelpful and unattractive. It should, at the very least, be made a preference so that those who wish a goth-like interface can have it, and those of us who depend on color to be more efficient and better informed can have that as well.

The green tick should really come back! The difference between faded and solid tray icon in Windows is almost unrecognizable - I really have to fix my eyes on it to know the status.

Please get back to green online / synced icon. There is almost no difference between offline and online / synced icon now. :(

Totally agree. I would like the green checkmark back on full sync. Now it looks like Dropbox is not connected... I don't like the new method.
- Madpentiste9 years agoExplorer | Level 4Here is a workaround for those with linux/ubuntu (might be transferrable to MacOS and Windows) : (1) find the icon files in a folder that should be named /home/[username]/.dropbox-dist/dropbox-lnx.x86_64-37.4.29[<--- or your distribution and version of dropbox]/images/hicolor/16x16/status ; (2) modify at your convenience, with a picture editor, the file named dropboxstatus-idle.png -- for example, put a green color on it, or anything you would like in order to mean "synced" -- as usual, make a copy of the original file before any modification, so that things stay reversible ; (3) stop and restart dropbox : the modified icon should appear when the synced is finished.
