Can we disable the Dropbox menu bar icon on macOS?

Is there any way at all to just get rid of the menubar icon? I keep getting red notification dots about things I don't care about at all, despite all notifications being disabled. Today it just needed to advertise a feature to me. With a red badge that looks like an error. No. Do not do this.

Older threads I've found indicate that i can "simply" quit the app (which will "simply" make it stop working altogether). While I spend time trying to get support on the red dot issue, is there ANY way to just get rid of the icon altogether? I have zero use for it, it is 100% annoyance. And of course now I remember this is why I stopped using Dropbox, but surely this is not still the case??

Any help/workarounds/etc appreciated. Thanks.

Hey there, thanks for checking in with the Dropbox Community

Unfortunately, you can't remove the icon from the menu bar without qutting the Dropbox app.

This will obviously prevent the app from syncing in the meantime, however the icon will disappear from the menu until the next time you run the app or restart your computer.

As far as I know, there isn’t a way to hide it manually.

Thank you for your reply. This is indeed unfortunate. I would urge the devs, again, to please consider allowing the user to decide whether or not they need the clutter.

You can close it down in Activity Monitor and all the extensions then it goes
