Can you remove the space in the dropbox folder name ("Dropbox (Company-Name)")?
I'm using my companies business dropbox account. And it created a folder called "Dropbox (my companies name here)".
Is there a way to remove the space between "Dropbox" and "("? I don't want to have a space in the path. So the folder name will become "Dropbox-Company" or "Dropbox_Company" or something, but not space.
It seems impossible.
Hi all,
Unfortunately, it's not possible to change the name of Dropbox folder, as many of you have discovered.
If you are using it for scripts then the best thing would firstly to parse the info.json and grab the path from there. The JSON is located:
Mac/Linux:
~/.dropbox/info.json
Windows will be one of these two paths:
%APPDATA%\Dropbox\info.json
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Dropbox\info.json
I say this as if you were to move your Dropbox folder at anytime then this would, of course, break any paths that explicitly referenced an exact folder path.
On a side note, spaces within file paths shouldn't cause issues within scripts, it's fairly normal to have some spaces in there, just ensure your path string is correctly formatted and your script should be fine.

Well, that's a step up. The original answer was "that doesn't cause any problems you dummies."

I don't really think I need to explain details of this request yet again as many of your users have been asking this for years. Don't really understand why this is so hard for you to do...

Great question Jason! I've been trying to get any sort of comment from dropbox for over three years and all I've managed to get out of them is some version of "this is your problem not ours" or "you should change the way you work to accomidate us". For some reason I'm still a customer...
My advise would be to not wait and look for an alternative before it becomes a hassel to change. If you find another service that works well (maybe box or google drive?) please let me know!

I was excited to try Dropbox business, and we need some of the features, but this issue where it puts spaces in folder names makes it unusable for us. Our pipeline cannot work with spaces in directory names.
Is this issue currently being addressed? We may have to leave the Dropbox platform because of this issue.

I am a user of Houdini FX (3d graphics) which doesn't like spaces in folder names. There is no workarround for this issue. It might be a decision point for our company to use dropbox or to skip it entirely.
