Can't open the Dropbox desktop application on Mac OS 13.4
Upgrade my Macbook Pro from 2018 to a new 2023 Macbook Pro M2. Installed the latest version of DB,, and the app crashes after a few minutes. However, I installed an older Intel version and it r,uns without crashing. I am a paying customer of DB. Tried running the adv reinstall (https://help.dropbox.com/installs/advanced-reinstall), and it installed the Intel version. Which is seems stable. Ideally, I would like to run DB natively. Open to suggestions and ideas.
OS: Apple Ventura 13.4

Dropbox just stopped working after upgrading my Mac to Ventura 13.4. I don't know if that's related but I've uninstalled and reinstalled but it still won't start up. There are a bunch of errors in the system console that I don't know how to read. I need dropbox to be working for work. Can I install an older version or something?

Hi tonyd256, let's jump right into this!
You mentioned that you see these errors in your system console. However, can you clarify what happens when you try to open the app?
Do you maybe get a blue hyperlink with a Dropbox error there? If so, feel free to attach it here.
Keep me posted!

Hi MountainDog, let's jump right into this!
Did you initially install the app using this link? Did it crash immediately when you tried to open it?
Also, was it a silent crash, or did it give you an error? If you could recall the version that you installed, which caused the crash feel free to let me know.
Keep me updated, and we'll take it from there!

Excellent.
Yes, I used the link you posted. Some observations, it seemed to take a long time to install. You click the DB icon and wait, and finally, prompt to install. Second, it would crash silently without an error. The icon on top would disappear, and in the Activity Monitor app, it would say not responding in red. I tried several versions from this page, even a beta version.

All of them would crash. I might have spoken too soon; the intel version died. Keep in mind this is a brand-new Mac, if that means anything. 🙂

Dropbox app has gone from menu bar. Clicking on Dropbox App doesn't launch anything. Nothing syncing. No right click ability to Transfer, or copy a link etc. Ideas? (Didn't install anything new or do anything). Maybe it updated automatically overnight?

I am having the same issues on both my MacBook Pros running MacOS Ventura 13.4. The app completely disappears from the menu bar. I have done a clean uninstall. Reinstalling the app gets it going for a little while, once the indexing is done, only to have it quit.

Me, too!
My MacBook Air is running macOS (Ventura 13.4 (22F66)). I noticed that Dropbox icon on the menubar had quietly disappeared with no error message, so I panicked and restarted the Mac again and again. No luck.
I double-clicked /Macintosh HD/Applications/Dropbox.app (Version 178.2.762), but it did not do anything at all after many tries.
I then went to Dropbox website and obtained DropboxInstaller.dmg. I double-clicked it, and it started Dropbox with the icon in menubar! I happily waited 1/2 hour for 100 000+ files to sync. When syncing was done, everything looked fine with BLUE dot on files as usual. However, Dropbox icon quietly disappeared after several minutes, just like before. The current location of my Dropbox folder is ~/Dropbox/. There is no CloudStorage in my ~/Library/ folder.
I am desperate, so PLEASE HELP!

Same problem for both me and my wife, both running Mac OS 13.4 on 14" MacBook Pros.

I received help via support on Twitter. They said to go here: https://www.dropbox.com/account/security
Click on the bin next to the Device (Mac) and then click on UNLINK (don't tick the delete all files box).
Then go here: https://www.dropbox.com/install
Download and install again.
When I did this, it indexed for about half an hour. Dropbox now in Menu up top and contextual right clicks all work.
BUT... the thing I have noticed, is that the version installed from the website, tells you that you need to upgrade, so clearly the website download isn't the latest version. I will bet anything that it will automatically update and this will all happen again! - GS_Sunatori3 years agoExplorer | Level 4
Thank you for posting your finding, Gayle1402. I am so scared that I will wait for official direction by Dropbox Staff.
