3 years agoHey VirageSonore, thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community.
Indeed, to get the best experience and to avoid issues, we regularly update active Dropbox accounts automatically to the latest version of the Dropbox app.
Apologies for any inconvenience, but thank you for sharing your feedback with us.
I will make sure to pass your comments along to our team.
If you need anything else, please let me know.

Ok I get that you automatically update. That's fair. But why isn't it possible to disable auto-update ???
You do realize that I'm paying for a service and that I can NOT use the said service ?
I have a lot of software which are not running on the latest version because of my OS, but it is the FIRST TIME that I can't use an older version of one. Why can't I just use the last version from a week ago ? Why don't you let people do that ?????
I am really glad that you passed the message...... But here I am, unable to work just because Dropbox won't let people disable auto-update. Do you see how ridiculous this is ???? Should I just go and subscribe to another service then ?- Jay3 years ago

Hi VirageSonore, currently it isn't possible to disable the auto-update as we regularly release new versions of the Dropbox desktop app with additional features, better performance, and security enhancements.
Some of these features are not always compatible with older systems. Additionally, Apple stopped providing security updates to OS X 10.10 and OS X 10.11 in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Due to this, we are ending our support of the Dropbox desktop app for these operating systems to keep our product offerings in-line.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can help with.
- VirageSonore3 years agoExplorer | Level 3I understand all that. I am not asking that you keep on releasing new version for my OS, I am just asking why there are no ways to keep an older version ??? Literally all the other softwares I am using are doing that and I canât think of any software which donât offer that ?
Are you telling me that I will never be able to use the software I am paying for just because you donât want people to be able to not use older versions ???
I hope you understand that I am not asking for Dropbox to still release versions for old OS, nor that I am asking for support (I would understand if I have a problem that youâd say âsorry itâs an old version we canât help you with your problemâ), I am just wondering why we canât use an older version and why, overnight, I end up not being able to work for this reason ???
This is outrageous !
