Dropbox application suddenly not working with Windows 11

Yesterday, I noticed that Dropbox was no longer connected on my laptop running Windows 11.  There is no system tray icon for Dropbox, and clicking on the start menu app icon does nothing at all; same for "Open Dropbox" on the website.  I've uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted multiple times, tried different firewall settings, redownloaded the installer, but no luck with anything.  A previous thread discusses a similar problem, but no solution:

  • I found the solution by logging out of my Windows 11 user account and downloading Dropbox while logged in on the Visitor account.  I switched back to my user account and was able to open the Dropbox app and link my account.  Very strange.
