I gave up: not working on Mojave, hence not using Dropbox anymore

I seem to have solved this, but it took a lot of effort, and I'm not sure what worked. This seems to have done it:
Unlink the computer and delete the Dropbox app.
Rename the ~/Dropbox folder (or copy it somewhere else).
Delete all the files in the hidden ~/.Dropbox folder.
Then download Dropbox and let it download all your files. You can interrupt the download and copy some or all of the files from the original (renamed or moved) Dropbox folder to save time downloading.
After I did this, Dropbox seems to be working normally again.

For the non-tech-savvy, an easy way to get to the ~/.Dropbox folder is to use the Finder Go menu and click Go to Folder, and enter (very carefully):
~/.Dropbox
A window will open with the contents of the folder. Delete them all. (AFTER you have quit Dropbox and deleted it, and renamed or deleted or moved your Dropbox folder.)

Thank you so much for your tips firstlooks, I followed these and it worked for me. I am using latest version of Mojave on MacBook Pro 2018.
Anyone else have this issue its well worth trying this method!
