Dropbox won't sync after sleep, I need to force quit File provider.
2 years later...
I have a brand new Mac Mini M4, latest macOS Sequoia 15.5 and up-to-date Dropbox. After sleeping then Dropbox sometimes doesn't sync and I have to do exactly this -- manually locate DropboxFileProvider and Force Quit it. Synching immediately resumes. Nothing else that I've tried works. The Dropbox app claims that there are no sync issues and re-starting that does nothing.

Hey erlendur - sorry to hear about this.
Can you please clarify the version of the Dropbox desktop app as shown in your menu bar?
When you say restarting does nothing, are you referring to the app or the computer?

224.4.4811 is the version.
Restarting the app doesn't work. I tried selecting Quit from the menu bar and then starting app again and it had no effect. I also tried adding more images from my phone to Dropbox to see if that would trigger synching of the missing image.
I didn't try rebooting the computer, I started looking for solutions, found the "force quit DropboxFileProvider" and that worked.

Just to add to this Megan - after the 15.5 update, the fileserviced system demon went crazy. Removing and reinstalling dropbox helped but there is definitely an incompatibility after the update is finished. It would randomly make the process run at >100% cpu and flip on the fans on a M4 max...

Hey tobsn, thanks for letting me know about this!
Do you still notice the same behavior as we speak?
If so, can you also let me know the exact version of our app that you're using? You can find this by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon on your menu bar, next to your WiFi.
In any case, I'll definitely pass your comments to our team. Keep an eye out, and let me know of any updates!
