DropboxInfiniteProxyHelper quit unexpectedly. How can I resolve this?

Starting Dropbox (which happens automatically when I logon gives the error

DropboxInfiniteProxyHelper quit unexpectedly.

This seems to be due to an invalid code signature. See the trace below.

Mac Os X 11.6.7

Dropbox 231.4.5770

I tried re-downloading and restarting Dropbox, but with the same results.

Hey there, kulath, let's jump right into this!

Would you mind trying out an advanced reinstall using these steps, in order to resolve this issue?

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

I'm getting the issue as well & the advanced steps do not work. I did it 3 times..

I even tried going down to Build: Dropbox 223.4.4909
from your offline builds located here: Dropbox Desktop Client Builds | The Dropbox Community
    nothing works..

This could only be happening to us, old Mac OS users. Upgrading OS is impossible on my old machine..

The "make online-only" thing does not work properly; there is no cloud icon, even though it sort of does it & clicking the file once made online it does not open at all. I've tested this with simple text files.

I assume the helper is responsible for making this feature function, which clearly is very broken atm.

    even trying to do

sudo codesign --force --deep --sign - /Applications/Dropbox.app

Or on the XPC helper does not fix it either..

I'd say this issue only started happening recently. I did a system reboot & then 1-2 days later, I started getting this error.
Not sure if this helps, but I've also switched over to using DoT (DNS over TLS) for DNS on our main router.
But I highly doubt that would cause issues.
I also have AdGuard & Little Snitch, but they have never interfered for the past decade I've used Dropbox with & they haven't had any updates in the past 2-3+ months. Only Dropbox has had updates.

But even with the 5+ old build of Dropbox, I get this "Invalid Signature Crash"

Hey XxUnkn0wnxX - thanks for letting us know about this.

Since this persists after an advanced reinstall, you could try installing the Dropbox desktop app on a new OS profile to see if it works there. If that's not an option at the moment, let us know here and we'll reach out via email to investigate further.

Same goes for you kulath - if the advanced reinstall didn't help you as well, let me know and I'll reach out to you via email too.

Hi Walter , I am actually kulath, but I have had to login with a different name, because when I try to access https://www.dropboxforum.com/, using my kulath   account I get "We're sorry, but you have been banned from using this site.". I still seem to be able to access the main Dropbox site, and my account details and content there; it is just the forum that I seem to have been banned from.

Could you please unban the kulath account from the forum.

I have tried the advanced instal, but it makes no difference, I still get the error. I checked the certificate, and it seems OK:

    $ codesign --display --verbose=4 /Applications/Dropbox.app/Contents/XPCServices/DropboxInfiniteProxyHelper.xpc/Contents/MacOS/DropboxInfiniteProxyHelper

    /Applications/Dropbox.app/Contents/XPCServices/DropboxInfiniteProxyHelper.xpc/Contents/MacOS/DropboxInfiniteProxyHelper: satisfies its Designated Requirement

Step 3 of the advanced reinstall says; "When the uninstall finishes, restart your computer.", but this doesn't make much sense, because the only step advised is to move the application to the trash, which happens instantaneously. Was this step intended for when there was an uninstall inside the package, as there is for some applications.

Thanks, would be very grateful for an email contact.

Hey kulath1, thanks for letting us know about that!

I was able to successfully unban your account. I sincerely apologize for that, it seems it was a Community moderator error that we managed to fix.

As for your problem that still persists, I'd be happy to create an email on my end for you. Just let me know which Community-linked email address you'd like for me to use.

Is it the one under the kulath1 username, or the one under kulath

    Thanks for unbanning me.
It doesn’t matter which email you use. Try the one under the kukath username.
