Green Check Marks No Longer Appearing in MacOS Ventura Finder

Hi,

I am running MacOS 13.1 on a 2021 M1 MacBook Pro. All of a sudden, several days after I updated to the latest OS version, the blue syncing, and green check marks no longer appear in the finder for my Dropbox Files.

According to the menubar icon it is still syncing, and in the web version I think my files are still updating. I am using Dropbox v163.4.5456. I am on a Professional Plan.

Are there any known issues?

Any way to fix this?

Any more info you need in order to help me out?

I appreciate any and all responses

Hey Justinw, thanks for joining our Community.

Can you please clarify if the syncing icons on your files have completely disappeared, or have they perhaps changed?

Did you receive a notification on your Dropbox icon to update your Dropbox app to Dropbox for macOS and if so, have you done so?

And if you hover your mouse over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar, what's the exact sync status of the app?

Once I have this info, I'll be able to assist you further!

    Hi Hannah. Thanks for responding.

The syncing icons have disappeared completely.

I have not received a notification to update the app. When I started having the issue, I went to the dropbox website, and downloaded the most recent stable version listed. Even when I installed the issue persisted.

When I hover over the menubar icon, it doesn't say anything, but the icon shows the round circle syncing sign in the bottom right corner. When I click on the menubar icon it says that files are updating. And, as I said in my original post, those updates seem to be appearing in the web version (currently, there are a lot of files updating, so I can't say for sure).

Hey Justinw, I'm sorry to jump in here, but could you have a look at this information and let us know if it helps in your case?

Just make sure that your desktop app is 'up to date' first and not still syncing or updating your files.

    Hi Walter,

Thanks for the suggestion, currently there are a large number of files updating, so I'll have to wait til those are done.

As soon as I can, I'll try these steps, and report back.

    Hi Walter,

I followed the instructions in link on your post.

Unfortunately, the green/blue syncing icons still aren't showing up in the finder.

Hi Justinw, hope you don’t mind me jumping in.

Just to clarify, did you follow the steps on how to relaunch your Finder, after quitting all apps, and restart your Dropbox app?

Can you please let me know what’s the exact syncing status of your Dropbox app at the moment? Also, if you open your Dropbox folder and right click on any of your files, are you seeing any Dropbox-related options from the dropdown menu?

    Hi Justin,

I had the same problem on Ventura. I quit dropbox, restarted finder and reopened dropbox — the problem persisted.

I tried a second time but this time quit both Google Drive AND Dropbox before restarting finder and reopening dropbox — the problem was resolved and ticks are visible again. Hope this helps.

This worked for me too! Seems like there's a conflict between those two apps. When I reopened the Google Drive app, the green bullets disappeared again.
