You can relink an old Dropbox folder to your existing Dropbox account (assuming it was already associated to the same account as before) by doing an advanced reinstallation of the Dropbox desktop application, and making sure to follow Step 11.
It will still take a little time to reindex the files and sync any changes that were made since you last linked the folder, but it would be much faster compared to syncing the entire account from scratch.
