I got a an email about limiting support for macOS 10.13–10.15, can I still sync files?

I have a 2015 MacBook Pro with Mojave os 10.14.6 and I am not able because of another program to update my operating system. It is not clear to me what I will lose in October. I just use dropbox to back up files... excel, word, Quicken... I have the dropbox icon on my dock and am able to open these files. When I change something in a file, it syncs across all my devices. I also have a MacBook Air with a newer OS but I only use that compter for doing taxes. I use Quicken 2007 and have to keep Mojave 10.14.6 to keep using my Quicken. When my old MacBook Pro crashed, I didn't lose anything in dropbox. Will I lose contact with my data from dropbox in October on this computer?

  • Hi KathieKathy, thanks for taking the time to message us!

In relation to the email you received, Dropbox will no longer support the full desktop experience on Mac OS 10.13-10.15 and Windows 7, 8, 8.1.

Starting in October, your desktop app will be transitioned to a simplified version without certain features in the app.

The main feature, which is file syncing, will remain as is, so you won't 'lose contact' with your data as you mentioned.

You can read more about this change in this article.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
