Instructions don't match what I see when trying to download CSV file with my passwords

Integration Affected
Dropbox Passwords
Device
Dell Desktop PC
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
Windows 11
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
N/A

Question or Issue

Objective: Export Password data to CSV file.

I'm using the Dropbox extension on Brave (Chrome-based web browser). I've tried to follow the directions, but the instructions do not jive with what I am seeing on the screen.

I am using this article: https://help.dropbox.com/installs/dropbox-passwords-discontinuation#How-do-I-export-my-Dropbox-Passwords-data

The instructions include content that does not exist when I open Dropbox extension. My responses follow within [ ].

Open the Dropbox Passwords browser extension. [OK, I got a web page.]
Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the bottom-left corner. [This does not exist.]
Click Preferences. [This does not exist.]
Click the Account tab. [This does not exist.]
Click Export. [Never made it here.]
Click Export to confirm. [Never made it here.]

I have searched for at least a half hour on the Dropbox Community, but to no avail. Also, I have a screenshot that I can send you. Please advise. Thank you.

Thanks for joining the Dropbox Community, Coromandel2025.

Just so we can get a visual too, can you send us a screenshot of what you see on your end when you open the Passwords extension on your browser?

Of course, please make sure to edit out any personal/sensitive info before uploading the screenshot.

Also, if you install and sign in to the Passwords extension on one of our supported browsers, do you get the same behavior?

    Thanks in advance.

Hey brinmoor53, thanks for posting here!

Your screenshot isn't very clear I'm afraid, so I apologize if I'm missing something.

I was wondering if maybe you're not on the correct path there. Could you click on the app launcher (grid icon) on the top left corner that reads "More" below "Activity" and then select "Passwords" from there?

Can you then follow the steps that my colleague Hannah provided?

Are you 100% positive that you hadn't saved your recovery words when you first set up your Dropbox Passwords account brinmoor53?

    Hi Walter

if it was part of the sign up I'm sure I must have done it....just where they are now after all these years is unknown....so in essence, no recovery words

    Thx BM

Yes, it's a crucial part of the sign up process when you first set it up brinmoor53

For example,I had sent my recovery words via email to myself as a backup. Is there a chance that you had done the same or that you had saved them in a file on a device of yours at some point in the past?
