Moving external drive with DB folder to new Mac device

Hello,
I have an ext hd with my db folder and I’m getting a new Mac. I want to use the same drive on the new machine but I’d rather not have to format the drive, link db back to it and redownload my synced files. Is there a way to transfer from one device to another?

    Hey QuicksandDan, thanks for taking the time to post to our Community.

     

    With the new Dropbox for macOS app, you can no longer save your Dropbox folder to an external drive or choose which drive to place the Dropbox folder in.

     

    It will be set up by default in ~/Library/CloudStorage, once you install the app.
