My macOS desktop app is using 1GB of memory - can I reduce it?

Is there a way to have my files sync on my desktop computers, without consuming almost 1 GB of memory? I don't care about the other features of the desktop app.   I dislike how prevalent it is ...

OK here's the screenshots again.

0.8 GB while syncing had stalled.0.8 GB while syncing had stalled0.6 GB after quit and reopen.
